Japan Day 2

So, we had a good night's rest at Hotel Vista Kamata and prepared to check out at 10am for our 2nd day in Japan :D

For the next 2 nights, we will be staying at Flexstay Inn Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, Tokyo. Liping had made bookings for this stay via the hotel website's prior to this trip. It was somehow cheaper on the hotel's website. We were not allowed to check in at the time we arrived, however, we were allowed to keep our luggages at the hotel's office while we went out and continue our mission for the day.

We had our breakfast at 7-11 before heading out to take the train to our next destination. i tried one of their onigiris (they have different flavours) and bought another thinking that i would need it afterwards. the coffee in 7-11 was nice too... we just need to purchase the cup, and go to the coffee machine to press some butttons, and tadaaa.. hot coffee is served! :)

Today's plan was 1st to head to Akihabara's Yodobashi Electronic's store to get a simcard for our mobile data. we'd decided to get this b-mobile visitor sim 1 GB plan, which cost us 3980 yen. More info here: http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/product.html our plan was to insert this sim card into one of our phones, and use it as a wifi hotspot, so we could share the data usage among each of us. At the end of the day, we're not sure how much of the 1 GB we'd used up, but the line was not bad and was able to connect and use at most of the places we went.

By the time we settled the simcard, it was over lunchtime, but we were not very hungry, so we stopped by the french bakery/cafe nextdoor for teatime. I just noticed that mocha was not so famous in Japan.. instead i saw alot of cafe-au-lait. i ordered 1 cafe-au-lait to try and it turned out to be something like latte. but they also have latte in their menu.. hmmm. nevermind, as long as it's coffee, im fine with it, haha :D

Our next stop was to go to Sunshine city at Ikebukuro, to get our Disneyland ticket :) the line was long in Disney store.. we got our number and was told that we needed to wait for 1.5 hours for our turn. but there was this app where we can check whether our turn is coming up or not, once we got our number, so we can hang around the shopping mall while we wait for our turn. So, we stopped by Pokemon centre, which was also in the same mall :) lots of Pikachu, and other pokemons which i was not so familiar of. they were all so cute anyway :P

after we got our tickets, we went for dinner. My legs were not used to walking too much yet, and they were tired even before dinner. we had dinner at a restaurant in the mall, because we were hungry and we came across this menu and the price was affordable too. We didnt expect the portion to be so big, that i could not finish my meal..

I forgot the name of the restaurant, but this is 1 set-- mee and rice together, so filling 

After refuelling, we went out of the restaurant and we got a shock, when we found that most of the shops were already closed!! before we went for dinner, they were still open and there were many shoppers too.. this is quite unbelievable! and the time was only around 8.30pm. hmm...

anyway, we proceeded with our plan to Tokyo tower by taking a train from the nearest station --Higashi-Ikebukuro station.

We did not plan to go up Tokyo tower to see the view of Tokyo, so im not sure about the price. But it did look grand.

Satisfied with our photos and video-short clip shooting, we departed and went back to the hotel at around 10.30pm.

Before reaching the hotel, we stopped by Family Mart to get a bit of something -- yogurt drink/ice cream/ chocolate/ junk food to munch or try out, if it's nice we can buy some back :) the thing is, they have so many types of convenience stores, 7-11 and Family Mart is just an example of it and the prices of the things they sell were quite reasonable too.. unlike the 7-11 here in Malaysia, where the things they sell are always more expensive :(

We went back to the hotel, settle the payments and checked in. When we wanted to get our bags, the hotel staffs told us that they already helped us placed our bags in the room. that was so nice of them!! :D

For the First time in FOrever!!! - Japan Sept 2015 Day 1

Yeah, i know, i've been absent for so long, that i almost forgot my blog's address.

before leaving for Japan, me and my friends did many research on the internet, as we planned for a back-packing trip. So, we needed to settle accomodations and itinery all by ourselves. Scrolling through the internet has indeed helped us a lot in our planning, hence i was thinking, maybe i could do the same thing too, by sharing my experience here :)

It was few months before my final Pro exam when we'd planned for this trip. That time, AirAsia had one of it's Big Sale and my housemates, Jun and Liping, was eager to go somewhere and found that air tickets to Tokyo, Japan was cheap. I did not have much time to think about it because cheap tickets always run out fast.. and since it was also my dream to go Japan, i agreed to join them. So, airtickets to Japan were booked, even before our final exam, and we knew we had to pass our exam in order to make this trip to Japan.

Ok, our trip to Japan was from 14th Sept to 25th Sept, 12 days11 nights. LiPing was the master planner of our whole trip.. and she's quite good, although there's still space for improvement as it was her 1st time planning the itinery.

Our flight from KL, took us 7 hours to touch down at Haneda airport, Tokyo. By the time we arrived, it was 10.30pm in Japan. I had heard of Japanese walking very fast, and they always looked like they were rushing... this was the 1st thing i experienced once we came out from the gate. The arrival hall was bustling with people, brushing past us, and made us feel that we're in the way. I used to thought that i walked fast... but they're even faster in Japan.. haha :P

Immigration procedures took us about 1 hour. The line was quite long that night. or maybe that was the peak period in the airport.

We booked our stay at Hotel Vista Kamata for the night. I did the homework on how we're suppose to get to the hotel from the airport. Since it is still considered early (11.30pm) we managed to catch the bus heading towards JR Kamata station. It was stated from the West exit to the hotel was just a 5 minutes walk, so i was expecting to see the hotel once we reach the West exit. it turns out to be not the case. We managed to ask for directions from a guard on duty, and he directed us on how to get there. He was friendly and helpful, just as what we had expected based on opinions of those who had visited Japan before. Our 1st attempt of communicating in Japanese... haha >.< at least, it got us to where we wanted. Better check out Google Maps for directions before heading there :) my lesson learnt..

After juggling with our luggages for a 'short' distance (it did not feel like a 5 minutes walk for us, i would say 10 minutes instead), we finally reached the hotel. We were warmly greeted by the hotel staffs. Thanks to Agoda, where we prebooked and paid for our hotel, our check in procedures were simple, and we got our key to the room, along with 3 complimentary bottles of mineral water. :)

The room we got was a triple room, with 3 single beds, just like the pictures advertised in their page. and never had i seen so many toiletries in the bathroom. they provide toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, body scrub, shower cap...etc. if i'd known, i would just stay here for the rest of my days in Japan.. and leave my toothbrush and toothpaste at home.. haha The room was quite comfortable , the price was ok and i liked it. Too bad we're just staying for 1 night :(

Feeling hungry even though we had our meal on AirAsia's flight, we decided to go to McDonalds for dinner! McDonads Japan is so different from Malaysia, with an additional choice of burger on their menu -- BBQ pork burger, plus the sides in a set is not necessarily french fries and coke, we can choose either french fries, nuggets or another item which i forgotten (haha) while for drinks, there's a whole list of it too!!

Before retiring for the day, we checked out the nearest 7-11 store nearby. We used to hear alot about their 7-11 before coming here... where we can get breakfast, coffee etc.. and ya, they really have alot of things there, an eye-opener for me! i haven't been overseas ever since so long ago, other than singapore.. heehee

Liping and Jun bought yogurt drinks from 7-11 that night :)

Stresss!!!

Long time no see!!!! this goes to show that i'm really busy..haha

i started my life as a 2nd year medical student last september, and till now i haven't found any time for me to a rest. I guess the 4 months break before this was for us to prepare ourselves mentally for all these challenges we wil face this year.

first, i had to get myself use to the syllabus in second year which does not cover the theory stuff only, but also, we have to go to wards and start clerking and presenting case. Next, they also integrated something called ''Problem-based learning'' into our curriculum where we were divided into groups of 12 people, and we need to be active in discussion to get points...and most of the commitees of our campus activities are second years. So, who said that 2nd year was ''Honey-moon'' year???.... IT's A LiE!!!!

This time, i thought that finally i could take some rest from the hectic uni life, because it was after our 1st exam in 2nd year....but i was wrong yet again. sedih lo :'(

my break started with a camp in Port Dickson. It's USM collaborative training, where we were exposed to and trained to be rescuers if some disaster were to happen, such as land slide, earth quake and accidents. We had simulations of the real situation there, and we were taught on how to do triage, tagging the victims as red, yellow, green or white(dead), manage the victims, we also get to pose as victims...and and and most interestingly i learnt how to use a walkie talkie!!! haha... ^^

because of this camp, 4 days were minus from my supposingly 9 days holidays... haiz 

But it's not bad after all... i've gained quite some 'not-so-camp-related' esperience in fact.. haha>< Going somewhere so far from kelantan for a camp is not so fun if you endure almost 13hours of freaking bus ride there just for the camp.

So, we had some fun at the beach!!!!



and for my 1st time ever, i tried riding this 'Pencil'!! haha



Even i myself would not have believe that i would be so brave to be riding on this thing which will turnover 4 times throwing all riders in the middle of the sea!!! been there, done that.... after this, i won't be trying it again, once is enough...phew!!!

there was another thrill ride we tried over there. they call it the 'Doughnut'... same thing, once is enough... the side effects of that deadly 'doughnut' -- hurt my neck muscles--and is enough to last for 4 days... ><

i was so exhausted after the camp, with injuries all over.. thinking that i could rest when i get back home. but, maybe rest was not meant for me.. while i was on the bus from kl central to lcct, i got a message rushing me to contact the IPG people about the upcoming CF family day.. :(  i felt so sad!!! sedih betul lo.. :'( '' i mean, please la, be more understanding....i haven't even reach home yet.'' i felt so unfair!!! people already resting at home, and perhaps nothing to do for 3 or more days already, i'm just beginning my holiday!!... urgh!! speechless....

Next day, another sms to remind me of the things i need to know as the ketua station for the upcoming Healthex, speaking of which... being a 'ketua' which i do not want to be :'( all i did was being absent for the 1st meeting, and i wasn't absent for no reason, i was SICK okay....and tadaa!! lesson learnt: NEVER be absent for any meeting!!!!

also, there's also things to prepare for the chinese cultural night event. PROMO video!!! well, it's actually for the sake to pain more experience, which will be useful for our cf media crew :)

besides i was woken up few minutes before 8am this morning by CF family day comittee asking regarding the IPG participants again.. sedih o... :'( awal-awal pagi sudah dibangunkan....

and all these events are coming soon, March and April... haiz, i don't know how to manage all these stress all at the same time.. :( even my break which i thought i could put down all these 'burdens' and at least relieve stress for a while, is GONE!!!

There's only one way i know i could survive this.. and only HE can help me.. ''I can do all things through CHrist who gives me strength''-- Philipians 4:13

I don't know how i'm going to handle all these things all at once, but all i know is to rely on God. To tell the truth, i really dread going back to campus, and i am reluctant to face all these responsibilities ahead of me... i feel stressed up whenever i thought of any of these things, as long as they are not settled...haiz.. lesson learnt: NEVER just say Yes, Ok, No problem...ask for time to consider



 Holiday=no holiday... but what else can i do??? haiz... GO back , face the problem, settle it and Move on... Pray that God will grant me the strenght that i'll need for this long battle.. Amen. ^^

long long hols!!!

so fast, i've already been in JB for 4 months... and i never left this place, not even once... surprisingly :)

i may have many plans before this, but i only manage to do some of them... kind of regret that i hadn't spend my time more appropriately ==

most of my time has been dedicated to my family, where i was 'Maria' for 4 months... helping with household chores like sweeping, mopping the floor; washing, hanging and folding the laundry that I'm getting so good at these!!!

at night, i would be in front of the screens... be it my laptop or the tv. Logging into Facebook almost everyday, reading theStar online; watching the 10.30pm drama on astro shx....etc

is that how i spent my 4 months???!! i couldn't believe it myself.... i've been living like this, for 4 months!!! add another 1 more month, and i'm going to be crazy....@@

well, of course, i did some other things too.... like...

cooking!!! not the usual cooking which uses the stove, but with the RICE COOKER... haha that's what we used to do at the hostel. At home, it was the only way to cook, after i kind of 'ruined' the only pot at home which can be used on the induction cooker.... haiz :( nevertheless, this rice cooker worked fine for me...

this is barley + 'fuzhok'... the usual dessert our seniors cook for us in campus, or sometimes we cooked ourselves...^^ 

i did some beadswork too!!! a senior taught us the basics after our pro1 exam... there were so many patterns he could make, the cross, hearts, snowflakes, etc...but i just managed to learn one or two from him. :( since i'm a bit slow in arts&craft...

and.... i finally completed a cross-stitch work my aunt asked me to do. this project took 3 years to be completed. oh, or should i say, 3 long holidays--which include my post-spm break, post-matrix break and also this post-1st year break... haha^^ so glad that i managed to finish it!!!

so many things happened within this 4 months too..!!

watched 2 movies-- harry potter and the smurfs. although, it might be 2 'only' for some of you, but 2 is a lot for me, since i seldom watch movies in cinemas... and and.... yesterday, i managed to watch Smurfs in 3d!!! it's one of the thing in my holiday to-do list... i'm so happy!! :) watching 3d is just do different from 2d, everything seems so real...the characters were popped-out from the blurry background....and with technology so high like this, it costs us rm17 per person. but i feel that it's worth the while... chose the right movie to watch in 3d^^

mummy changed her car-- luckily i still get to drive my mum's kelisa when i came back for my hols.  a month after i came back, mom decided to change it for a myvi. coincidentally, perodua launched their latest model at that time, so we were the first few in this area driving the 'new' myvi... too bad we couldn't get the purple colour, but this pearl white is quite nice also.. :)

went out with long-time-no-see friends!!-- with yamnee, kim, warnling+george... it's so hard for us to meet up, with busy schedules, transport problems and everything.. it's a great blessing to be able to have lunch/dinner with them again... going back to the 'craziest', 'childish' times we once had when we were in high school...oh, and almost forgot the brief meet-up with yinsan & susan that day at citysquare...^^

learned how to drive-- or rather 're-polish' my driving skills which will be once again be kept away until the next time i come back to jb. i've already renewed my P to CDL, but for 'safety' reasons, ahem ahem... the P sticker was transfered to the new car too... hahaXD mom really has the guts to let me drive her new car!! and allowing me to drive... heee ^^

celebrated daddy, melissa... and MY birthday at home!!heehee... luckily i'm already at home, that spared me from all those mischievious acts those people in campus could ever think of... hahaha XD

also, kimmy got a scholarship to continue her law degree in London!!-- felt so proud of her.. wow!!that was like great news to me!! :) she'll be flying off to london soon, and won't be meeting her till next year july...

and and... yamnee just registered into UTM today!!!-- after all those 'last-minute' work, she finally got herself there... hope that orientation week won't be too hard for her :) busy lady hardly gets any rest wor...

*looks like it's going to be hard for us to meet again next time... :( will be missing you all... all the best ya!!

well, there goes 4 months, all in 1 post... i shouldn't be so lazy though Xp

next saturday... i'm going back to ulu-land... sad?? happy??? excited??? perhaps a little bit of each.

busy days are coming soon, and i really wished that i could enjoy these last few days of this holidays... i guess i won't be regretting that i didn't rest much during this hols. i must admit that i'm overdosed on sleep.

i shall work hard when i get back to usm!!! but not now ya.... haha

in the process of rotting

hey!! so fast, i'm already in Jb for a month... i wonder how did i spend my time during these few days at home?? nothing much, just eat, sleep, watch drama, go online-- facebook most of the time... haiz, i'm really going to waste away

so, another 3 more months?? i don't really plan to get a job, any ideas what should i be doing then?? haha...

after staying at home for so long, and getting used to the daily routine at home really makes me feel lazy to get out of the house.

last thursday, i finally got out of the house and went out with kim and yamnee!!! also, it was my first time stepping into KSL shopping mall!!! first time, after they opened a few weeks before chinese new year... and the three of us went to get our hair cut...

kim's hair was already short enough, but she wanted a new hair style; yamnee, working for popular book fair at KSL at that time, was undecided to get a hair cut..but she still cut it though..i

tadaa!!! our new hair styles...



there isn't much changes in my hairstyle though, just wanted it to be short, no ideas of other hairstyles, even though kim insist that i should cut some style into my hair... :p

hmm... still looking good after my brain stayed dormant for one whole month..

i guess it won't be long before it shrinks... :S should really do some useful things from now on after resting for so long already, and also cut down my time in front of the tv since, the electricity charge has already increased... haha

the dreaded, scary professional 1 exam has officially ended with the announcement of the results last thursday... phew, what a relief. i passed!!!! all glory to the Lord..

actually, i already knew that i'd passed my exam last tuesday, 2 days before the actual results day.

that day, it was supposed to be the announcement of the names of the students who got VIVA, as they need to go for an interview to select distinction students among themselves.

I really didn't expect my name to be on the list... that time, i was in the midst of learning how to make beads heart from gabriel together with rosalind and wanxi. suddenly i received a message from eunice, who told me the news... hmm , i wonder how did she found out about it, as she had already graduated and went back home a week ago... she must have her spies somewhere around in campus.

i didn't believe her at first, and decided to walk all the way to the academic office to check. i couldn't believe my eyes the moment i saw my name among the other 18 candidates... huh?? do i deserve this result???i wonder...

that night, i was caught in a dilemma... should i go for the interview?? hmm.. maybe i should just go for the experience. then again, should i reviseor should i continue watching drama??? i actually went through some of the notes... but suddenly my throat wasn't feeling well, and my head aches due to insufficient sleep the few nights before, so i went to sleep. to tell the truth, the few nights after exam, i was more hardworking than during exam, i slept very late.. almost 4am every day, watching drama... haha

next morning, i went to the interview with a calm mind... hmm.. i don't expect much, just attend for the experience only...

erm... by the time of the interview, i had already forgot most of the things i had study before this... and this is a one-to-one answering questions, with not much time for me to trial-and-error....too bad.. so, i smiled through the interview. the interviewers were quite nice to me too.. i thought they would scold me if i couldn't answer their questions correctly...

well, i tried my best... even though i knew very well that i wouldn't get distinction. ^^

phew!!! finally, it's all over already.. and i can move on to second year. and i'm most grateful that i'm not going up to 2nd year by myself, but most of my friends made it too!! ^^ i really thanked God for that...

too add to the joy of finishing our professional exam, we went for a trip at Pantai Irama, also to celebrate carmen and renling's birthday...

this time, it's really an exam by faith. i didn't finish reading all the notes in this whole year... in fact i left out most of the topics in Endocrine Block.. but still, i passed my exam well...

emm.. i shall end my post now, there's really a lot to say though.. i shall make full use of this coming 4 months to tell more of my life as a JB student in Kelantan^^ haha

1 year in school of medcine USM

thinking of medic as your first choice undergraduate course?? is that what you really wanted??

hmm... i'm sincerely urging you to think this twice.. initially i also thought that it wouldn't be that tough, but after getting a taste of it myself, it's really not easy!!! ==''

a few weeks ago, usm held their interview for the next academic session. that time, we medic 1st years were having our second week of study week, while our 5th(final) year seniors were having their 3rd professional exam, passing which would add another 2 letters in front of their name (Dr.)^^

it was around that time, we were so stressed out with our studies, and started to have ideas of advising our friends or younger brothers and sisters against choosing medcine...rosalind, staying opposite to my room said:''i'm going to tell them: DON'T take medic....because..'' and that same evening, while we were studying at PUMA (pusat mahasiswa) we saw xiangling coming with a friend we don't usually see him in campus.... He's coming for the interview on the next day... no wonder didn't see him before. ==''

xiangling was telling him the possible questions the interviewer would ask during the interview, and me and rosalind got into their conversation as well when xiangling asked us to share our questions too... ^^ that's when rosalind got her chance of 'scaring' the potential usmkk medic student... -- with the amount of notes we need to read(reading wasn't a problem... but read and remember it,it is... and she even brought out the Netter atlas and told him we need to memorise the whole thing... haha


(atlas and notes... all piled up on my bed.. no time to arrange pun, during exam--like battlefield)


(sini ada lagi--poor doraemon on the bed need to share space with the notes.. haha)

see, that's one year's stuff!!! maybe it doesn't look scary like this, but when you pile them up... hmm... that's scary :S and i did not have enough time to finish all of these before exam... only gone through one time after lectures, and then no more... i really thank God that most of those i was not in time to study did not come out.... He really guided me through this exam :) and also He has blessed me with concerned seniors who gave us encouragement throughout this exam week--eunice, carynn, gabriel, waiyen, sarah, may, jeeleng, johor seniors, cf seniors.... also our 1st year friends...family members...and many more ^^

meanwhile, when our final year seniors heard that there were new batch of students coming for interview, carynn wanted wave from the 1st floor, telling them:'' Don't come.. DON't come...''haha... quite scary, the way she said it.... hmm, to quote from another final year senior, ''medicine is not difficult, but it's impossible to finish all within 5 years...what you learn before will come out in exam, what you never learn before will also come out...''--maybe that was for Professional 3 exam... but for 1st years, studying lecture notes would suffice.. but sometimes, reading extra books would help in understanding and memorising :) that's what i planned to do during the long 4 months break, bringing back Netter, Guyton, Essential Haematology.... etc^^ if you wanna have a look at them can come find me la... haha

i guess the biggest problem we faced during this exam was the trouble to memorise all the things in the notes... the things that i was quite familiar before i suddenly forget--blank and there were too many things in the syllabus that sometimes we get them mixed up... and the 'best' part was SEQ-short essay questions, we don't know what's going to come out... and when it does, we were given 2 sheets of blank papers, with the first one having a single line of instruction, e.g. with a diagram, describe the attachments of diaphragm... and we were expected to give 10 points for that question.... hmm.. if got study, can goreng-goreng... no study, how??

as for OSPE- station... i don't like their bell ringing.. we only got 3 minutes for each questions, and after time's up, the bell will ring in a super scary way!! it made me jumped out from my chair and my heart was in tachycardia for the first few stations( from the 1st rest station to the next)... and it can really make my mind blank... by the time i reach the next rest station, i can totally lean on the white board behind me...huff huff... this time we got 3 active stations- splinting for right forearm fracture- kantoi!! , measuring bmi of the subject given-- he's a little overweight, and the next was measuring blood pressure- 130/80mmHg... haiz... i skipped some steps though...

MCQ( multiple choice questions) the normally known as tembak-tembak... this was the last 2 papers... managed to read another few more set of notes before the papers... cranial nerves, fungi, bacteria... etc

and there's really too much to study.... the last few days, my head also pening already :( perhaps brain energy was depleted too easily, i was always hungry!!.. haha

haih, finally it's over... waiting for the results on Wednesday... ish, initially thought it will be out on Thursday, so i bought the Friday flight ticket... now got one more extra day at campus.. nevermind la, got extra time to pack :)

really pray that we will all be able to pass this Pro1 and get up to 2nd year... ^^

Now, it's the time to relax!!! hmm... but really lost sometimes as i could not think of a better way to spend my time here... =='' nak keluar, malas; dok dalam, tak de benda nak buat.... haiz miss those days of studying... ^^ i'll probably go back to library.... read newspaper or storybooks gua.. people will say i'm crazy if i went back there to study.. haha

klah, will be back in a weeek's time... once again, i can embrace the breeze of Johor Bahru!!! >< wink*

Awesome-ness!!!!

Life might be boring and hectic studying in medic school.. sometimes we ought to take a break in between...

well, we just had the chance to do so last weeek. We were having reproductio block, and since it only has 7 lectures, our batch mates planned and managed to shift all the lectures up, hence we had a short holiday from wednesday to the next sunday...cool!! many of them went to buy their bus tickets to go home...

i might have felt sad if that was the case... but thank God that i signed up for a camp before this. It was organised by the LiveWire Media-- ChargeUp!!!2011in DUMC, KL. i didn't knew how awesome it was until i went and experienced it myself.

before this, maybe i should explain why i was going to this camp. Just recently, Pearl.. well-known as the only technical person of our christian fellowship planned to form a media team. I joined without much hesitation as first... since i wasn't sure of many things... maybe it's a way i could serve the Lord... =)

then, Pearl introduced this conference to us... Cool!! after knowing that we'll get to learn new things, me and 8 other friends signed up for it..

however, there were some complications along the way. We had trouble finding transport and accomodation. But God paved a path for us, maybe for them not much for me though.. i'll explain on later.. We decided to go there by Transnasional bus, it turned out to be a double-decker bus... and we stayed at Tune hotel Kota Damansara, which was quite an awesome hotel!!! affordable and the most comfortable bed ever!!! woohhooo....

the challenge was greater for me though.... before leaving for chargeup on wednesday night, i had the worst fall ever on monday morning. i actually fell down from my double-decker bed!!!! @@**!!!££%%... not while sleeping, but when i was coming down. I'm used to jumping down on my chair first before getting down, but somehow, i fell that particular time... maybe i was rushing to get the door, when i thought i heard someone knocking on it at around 6am!!! who would have come at that hour??? but later i found out that it was just my room mate coming in..... ==''

the impact from the fall was quite bad actually... i hit my backbone, my right arm and also the worst-- my right FOOT!!!! i got a lump on my back, a sore on my arm... and my right foot was so swollen that my sport shoe became swollen too when i insisted on wearing sport shoe to lecture.haha... i was quite grateful that i could still go to class in this condition... limp limp limp my way to lecture hall, at night still went out for CG farewell... phew!!! it really wasn't easy limping!!! ==''''

the pain was really freaking me out.. lots of my friends who knew about it kept nagging at me to go for an x-ray... but someone who fell so frequently like me knew very well that it's just soft tissue injury, and refused to go through the hassle of taking an x-ray at HUSM... plus, i was really busy that day.

Thanks to final year senior, eunice who brought me some bandages the next day... bandaging really helps... at least i could walk better.. and the pain subsided a bit. wow!! i didn't know how great the impact of the fall was.... >< never been so badly injured before.

but that wasn't all.. the evening before we departed.. while i was bathing... was scrubbing my head with shampoo.. suddenly, i felt tinggling and numbness in my right fingers... oh no!!! i remembered i had a blue-black on my right hand... did i hit a nerve or something??? suddenly i was so worried, scared... helpless--in the bathroom.. i was afraid that i couldnt open my eyes, and afraid that if i open my eyes i could not see...darkness..... i prayed in my heart... ''God, don't u want me to go for chargeup! ?''.. from somewhere deep down in my heart, i found the courage to turned on the tap again... i rinsed off the shampoo from my head... and i opened my eyes!! i can SEE!!! i can SEE!!! i was really thankfull that i can see the light again,... hallelujah!! but the numbness in my hand still persist for quite some time before it disappears...

and i went for ChargeUP!!!!

1st and 2nd day we had workshops.. while 3rd day we had Project time... when we get to produce our own video..!!! awesome!!!

we were advised to stay in DUMC for the shoot.. our group tried, but can't, so we went out to the city to get out video footages. my injured foot was getting much better, and i didn't need to bandage it already...the experience was awesome!!!... we took LRT, MRT.. went to Bukit Bintang, Chow Kit.....but the editing part was tedious.. our dateline for project was 12am, but we couldn't finish editing by that time... ahem, we werent the last group, ok??

accidents always happen, i'm just too clumsy... that day, my injured toe was hit by the monoport leg, and in the room, i tripped over something... however i didn't expect these to have much effect on my ''looks-to be alright'' leg...

i was awoken from my precious sleep by the numbing, awful pain, aound 5am... it took me quite a lot of effort to go back to sleep again... the next morning when i woke up at 8am, when i was about to go to the toilet to bathe, i couldn't stand on my right foot!!!! shocked, scared, lost-- again. with one left leg, i hopped to the toilet, luckily, tune hotel room is small enough, not so big.. haha.

after bathing, lying on the bed waiting for the rest to get ready... i still couldn't stand on my right foot... it was so painful!! even painful than the first day... Oh no!!! i want to attend church service!! i want to watch the media showcase!! the firsrt thought i have was to stay in the room, but those were the reasons that kept me out of the room. However, EC, the awesome taskforce member who drove us from Tune hotel to DUMC daily insisted that i get an x-ray done... so, unwillingly i went to University Hospital... i hopped into their A&E...and they popped me into a wheelchair...so, that's how i went around in the hospital... haha

went and get that x-ray done... NO FRacture!! thank God!!... see i told you all, it wont be fracture la... but soft tissue injury. The doctor prescribed painkiller for me... just like what i told them... see lah, for no reason RM35 fly already lo...it's worth it also, at least they stopped nagging at me.. :p

the fifth morning at KL.... we went to 1utama from tune hotel. from there we could catch a bus to LCCT... 1utama is really huge man... bigger than queensbay??? i feel that i just can't finish walking within 3 hours, plus my leg like that... haiz... found MPH alas, went in sat down and rest for most of the time... haha next time, when i can walk, i will come again... :p

finally, arrived safely at USMKK... the flight was quite scary too.. due to turbulence.. we had a free fall of some amplitude, to the extend of someone screaming... phew!! i was sleeping at that time...

i'm really grateful, despite all these obstacles i'd met before, during and after the conference.... I really gained a lot of experience through the workshops and projects in chargeup!!... also the bonding with both chargeup and usm awesome people.. :)

USMKK chinese new year night

yo!! it's been a long time since i last updated my blog. i've been very busy since october practising and preparing for this event mentioned above -- Chinese New Year night. It's supposed to be a grand event for the chinese not only in campus, but also to the local chinese community.

every year, the second year students would plan and make arrangements for the event... while the first years would be involved in the performances. As first years, we get to go through a series of auditions in order to select the performance/s we want to join. It's kind of like our OSPE exam, 'from one station to another' not answering questions, but to show your talents instead. After the session, we get to make our choices, from 1st to 8th/9th( like UPU application) haha...

normally, most of us will get our 1st choice... and mine was choir hy.

to tell the truth.. i really don't enjoy going for practices at first. I don't know why, especially after christmas night. i was surprised at first when i found out that i wasn't the only one... haha but eventually, as i get to know more people in the team... it wasn't that boring to go for practice. However, another problem arise... i was pressured by the piles of notes i had to study every day, with Selanjar 3 at the corner at that point of time.... X(

nevertheless, it's all over now... all these moments we spent together became a part of our memories we will never forget. Our performance directors choo soon, whom we call 'daddy' and sarah, whom we call 'mummy' and we 38 of us, are their children... heehee :D '' you all must sing with your 'dan tian' don't keep your voices in your throat!!! your voice must project out!!! your voices must have SUPPORT!!!!''-- that's what our 'daddy' said during almost every single practices.

At the same time, 'mummy' will go... ''must put more feeling into your melody... use your bow to express yourself... use more vibrato...follow the conductor (which was 'daddy') beats/hand signals...''

to be an excellent choir team is not easy you know... because most people would see it as a performance where they could go to the washroom or whatever... (even myself would think like that...) =p

however, that night... after our performance, it was the only time 'daddy' was satisfied with our performance... i guess everyone had really put their hearts into it and sang as best as they could.. for the first time, with microphones, there wasn't any problems... normally, there will be a particular someone's voice heard through the mics...

all went well... until the very last end--- my mic started to drop at my very last note!!!! but nevermind, it was already the end of the performance... haha but i might look wierd on stage trying to put the mic nicely in place, so that it will not hit the mic stand..

ooh...!!! i got my selanjar 3 results... again good news and bad news

(MCQ- multiple choice questions; SEQ- short essay questions; OSPE-i don't know what it stands for)

the good news is, i got A- for my overall results (MCQ+SEQ+OSPE), first time got A for my selanjar... but the bad news is, i failed my SEQ (F+) :(... also first time... but this time i know where went wrong... out of 5 questions, 3 questions 'kantoi' already... but still F+... for F, we have F+, F-, LF and LLF... i really thank God for my result.. i thought i would fail this time.. I wasn't sure whether i wrote my matrics number in the last few questions for OSPE, and MCQ got negative marking.... nevertheless, i passed this time!!! woohooo!! but i should really buck up for my SEQ... ANybody has any tips on that??? :)

i guess that's all for this time... back to studying again... :)

Hey, i'm back.. finally back again after 2 months. However, this time i don't think i can have much time to relax and enjoy like the last.

First, selanjar 3 would be one week after the holidays and i need to do my revision, but on the other hand i can't concentrate on doing anything except for sleeping!!!zzzzzz... can't blame me though.. i'm still sick.. :(

Bad timing... haiz now i can't enjoy all the junk food on the table supposingly.... but who cares, i just eat what i want.. :p heehee...

before coming back, i went for a camp in a school at the kemahang felda area. we went as a group of facilitators to motivate the spm students there... here are some activities that we did...


the students made towers out of old newspaper, some of them were quite stable though.. i'm quite impressed by the way they do things... as they managed to finish this project within 20mins only... :)



here's the singing part.. these boys were so excited to sing the theme song that they rush up to the stage to sing...

well, that's all about that program, i think... it was actually part of the Medical Students Facilitator Team project, an outreach program to help the community outside USMKK campus. I didn't want to go actually because i felt awkward being the only chinese in the group... but i was wrong... again... my group mates treat me well and we all enjoyed along together with the children there... and the best thing is, the children can remember my name easily, since i was the only chinese there.. even though they tend to pronouce wrongly.... haha

the next event: ahem.... it's our own Christmas Night!!! our campus Christian fellowship organised this event... of course i took part in it too... dancing tambourine dance... haha my first time though.



back to christmas in Kelantan!!! woohoo!! the 2 days i was so busy... i'm glad i made the decision to stay in kelantan instead of coming back. christmas eve, went for dinner at kelantan trade centre, ya, kelantan has a trade centre... 8 course meal... then on christmas morning, we went to methodist church service, then to crown garden hotel for carolling, in the evening, we went to dr tee's house for bbq... phew what a packed schedule >< but i really had fun... thanks seniors!!! :)

it wasn't until the bbq session that i knew the trick to this joke.... really LAME la.. :p

i guess that's all i can update for now... slept a lot but still feeling tired.. haiz

christmas is here again!!!!

but these few days, i often forget about that...

too bad i can't go back home to celebrate this year's christmas.. :(

last year's christmas, i was at penang; this year, in kelantan.... haiz

though there's a chance of going home this year ( nmany of them went back already), but maybe it was God's plan for me to stay here.. haha

nevermind, i already have a list of things lined up on my to do list... >< *wink*

24th morning- going to church for usual church service.. afternoon we're having practise for christmas carolling and then in the evening, we're going for a christmas dinner at kelantan trade centre (wow!! kelantan has a trade centre... haha)

and the next day would be christmas!!!

in the morning we would be carolling, while in the evening, we're going to Dr. Tee's house for BBq!! i didn't like bbq before, but since i didn;t have anything to do anyway, so, just folliw them :)

my so-called christmas break actually started this monday, after the afternoon session of sgd(small group discussion)... last 2 days went by swiftly, i wasn't aware of what i was doing either, sleeping, eating, studying?? maybe not... haha

yesterday night was fantastic.. xiangling actually came out with an idea of making tang yuen with all of us who aren't going back during this short break.. unlike the usual tanh yuen, ours was white in colour.... and we put chocolate inside, however gradually, our tang yuens started to change from small round riceballs, into all sorts of shape.. we have star, erythrocytes, and the dental students even started making tang yuen in the shape of a tooth.. *interesting* too bad my hands weren't available to take any pictures...

by the time we finished using all the flour we bought, we realised that there were too many tang yuens... *greedy* everybody wants the chocolate tang yuen, poor 'kosong' tang yuen was negleted... :(

thank god, we finally managed to finish most of the tang yuens, with only one small container left...

well, this was quite a fun experience... at least it was better than my experience in kmpp.. that time the tang yuen wasn't enough.. but this time we had overabundance of tangyuen.. heehee *happy*

christmas eve tommorow... *silent night, holy night..*

well, my night would be 'silent' if my room mates are not back yet.... haiz.. my days of having this room all to myself would end soon... after this, it's likely that i will camp inside the library (if i could) one would always be on the phone day and night, the other would have friends coming to visit.... :(

kinda hungry now... want to cari makan lo.. bye :)

'emo' or not...

1 week has already passed, in a blink of an eye, in a snap of fingers.. '' what else, what else??'' haha

tomorow, i'm going back to kelantan again... preparing for the whole new routine again-- morning: wake up, bathe, grab 2 packets of Lexus biscuits, sling on my bag, put on my shoes and then head to lecture hall, which is quite a long way from my hostel, and third floor of the building... by the time i reach the lecture hall and walked to my usual favourite spot which is the fifth row, i'm nearly breathless... huff huff huff!!!!


lecture starts at 8.30am, sometimes 10.30am.. after lecture, normally not later than 1pm, i'll go for lunch, normally at murni... afternoon usually we have demo and discussion or practicals, maybe they realise that if they have lectures in the afternoon, most of us would be 'fishing' then..


the rest of the day would be notes and me and sometimes-- junk food!!! haha...


well, if medicine is your choice of course, that's how your life is... it's hard in the begining... but once you get use to it, it won't be too difficult la... study only ma, most important is that you enjoy the process.. :)


going back to kelantan tommorow... haiz what i'm afraid to face is that room of my, i wonder how the spiders are doing in there... hopefully i don't have too much webs to clean tommorow... haiz :( i really don't like those spiders ...


this year, again, i'm celebrating christmas faraway from home... last year was in penang, this year in kelantan... i had my share of the turkey already, i got the giant drumstick too... satisfied!! :)


will be spending most of my time in KLIA-LCCT tomorrow... because airasia's flight from JB to Kl was rescheduled to 8.25am.. it was actually 12pm, so, i'm going to spend a lot of time in KL... airport. haha nevertheless, i'm already prepared for the 'wait'.. 'wink'

break free!!!

WoOHoO!!! after such a long stay at kelantan, i'm back again to this place i call home... gladly, i'm OUTTA kelantan!!!! i was so excited for the past whole week, waiting for the moment to go to the airport, ''just get me to the airport!!!'' haha....

coming to think of it, it's a really long time since the last i came back. :( but it's not that kelantan was not good, but it's just not where i could stay for long.... the hostel was just lagging some things for 'suvival' and it's scary enough to be living with those notorious 'CHarlies'.. I was lucky that i got away from them the last whole year in KMPP, but just a few days ago, i was 'attacked'... thank god it was on my arm, and i was fast enough to realise it, that i jumped down from the bed and just simply sapu some aquous cream.... and it works!!! otherwise if i could not get rid of that stinging, burning pain being transmitted by the Adelta fibres, i would not be able to sleep!!!

nevermind, now that i'm back, i'm going to have a few nights of peaceful sleep, before i got back there to face these annoying insects again.. haha :)

this is the only holiday i can enjoy myself... the only one after Selanjar 2....haiz i've decided to put studies matters aside for the time being, and enjoy myself to the fullest!! today, i went to City Square with mum and sis :) so long didn't go shopping already, i'm so happy!!! and being able to eat jb food and home cook food again, i'm really glad and grateful :)

2 and half months in kelantan, i've gone through many activities, and i had fun doing them...


this is me and corinne, we went down into the sea while we went for CF camp, after selanjar 1...



me, together with the Young sisters, carmen and corinne, and siew teng jiejie that night right after selanjar 1, we went to mydin and bought lots of food


this one was before selnjar 1, where we joined a health run in campus... it's my first time getting a medal for running... it might be able to replace the medal i couldn't get for penang bridge run this year, as i couldn't attend on that day...



and this was Borneo night, organised by the student from east malaysia.... that monkey was made from coconut shell skin, so creative :)



our mooncake event, wholly organised by first years... i remebered being so exhausted after this event, being one of the deco team, haiz... i don't think i will ever want to see any cardboards, scissors or stuffs like this....

now, we're preparin for the coming events... christmas night and chinese new year night.. at least there's some other things to look forward to other than study, eat, library, laundry, lecture, buy notes... haiz..

this time, i really want to enjoy my holidays... and i'm really enjoying now!! haha..

klah, maybe in a few days time, you'll be seeing my next sad post-- i'm going back to kelantan again... haha

COmmunity Service 13/11/2010

Remember about the community service i'd said that the 1st year medical students had to carry out as part of our curriculum???

At last, our group, group11 has completed ours last saturday... we were probably one of the last groups i think.

and here is the school we'd decided to come--Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Kota Kota Bahru.. and this program we planned is to cater for the special children there.. they have a few classes for children who are physically fit, but a little bit slow in learning...

i didn't expect this activity would be fun... even though i'd always thought of going to places like this... but i'm just kind of disappointed that all the decisions and planning were made by the comittee members, and not all members were invoved.. and all i need to do was to 'appear' during that day, and do what i'm asked to do... nevertheless now, i'm just glad that the activity turned out to be fun and memorable... :)

our purpose of going there is just to:

1. carry out some games for the children

2. it's part of our curriculum.. (haha)

3. just because we 'WANT' to help people (lor)... (remember, that was our answer during the interview to the question : why do you want to become a doctor?)

anyway, the main thing is as long as we are HAPPY, they are HAPPY too... that's all that matters

this was the third game we played: finding sweets in the flour... my group ( shin Chan) managed to find all the sweets hidden within the flour... ( they are not allowed to use their hands to take out the sweets, so they have to use their mouth instead,... and their faces were all covered with flour... poor thing.. whoever planned this game???!! )

this was creatively done by.... US grown up children!! wee.. !!!

this was the last game we had : filling in water with sponge and transfer it into a bottle..

the facilitators helps the children throughout the games.. :)

the shin chan members... :) yay!!! they are quite smart also... you know why??

because... they won 2 hampers!!!! in two games!! yayyay!!

and finally this..!! hand printing... all of our handprints are on this paper... the children were so excited when they inked their handprints there :)

and that was our activity-- from 8.30am to 12.30pm.. quite a short one, but we all had fun doing it....

we gave each child a balloon dog as a memento, together with some stationeries and jelly...

since got extra dogs, i took one...

it has a big weird tail... so i decided to modify it...

for that whole afternoon it looked like this.....

like that!!!! haha.. it didn't burst,i just wanted to add in more air, but somehow, i didn't have enough... so, it became like this!!! hahaha

know why am i so free today?? because it's a holiday!!! HAri raya haji.... kelantan has 2 days off.. wee!! but somehow the management didn't realise that it's a holiday as Facebook is still block as usual from 8am to 5pm... haiz.. whyla!!!

2 more weeks.. then i'll have my holiday!! :) that means, 1 more week to selanjar 2... STUDY STUDY STuDY!!!! many of us seemed to overlook selanjar, and are planning what to do during that mere 1 week break.... me too!!! my plan is to EAT!!!!! hahaha.... everyday in kelantan is like starving... not because there's noting to eat, but maybe i just missed the food at home... 24 hours hungry, always hungry!! nothing seems tobe able to fill up my stomach.. haiz

so envious of them who went back duing this 4 days haji break... too bad, i have o stay here, going back is not cheap ok???

kla, will have to stop here... need to finish my lunch and continue studying.... (while my room mate is not around...)haha..

2 more weeks!!! weeeee!!!! XD
